Toyota Innova Crysta Likely To Be Discontinued By 2027
Toyota may phase out the Innova Crysta by 2027, replacing it with a more affordable hybrid version of the Innova Hycross.

The Toyota Innova Crysta, one of the most trusted and popular MPVs in the Indian market, is reportedly set to be discontinued by early 2027. The move comes as Toyota plans to shift focus towards the more modern and efficient Innova Hycross lineup. What’s Replacing The Crysta? According to reports, Toyota is working on introducing a lower-spec version of the Innova Hycross, specifically targeted at fleet buyers. This new variant is expected to come with fewer features to make it more cost-effective and commercially viable. This strategy aims to bridge the gap left by the Crysta, which has long been a favourite in the fleet and taxi segment. Key Difference: Crysta vs Hycross One of the biggest changes between the two models lies in their construction: Innova Crysta – Body-on-frame (ladder frame) Innova Hycross – Monocoque construction While the Hycross offers better comfort and efficiency, the Crysta’s rugged body-on-frame setup has traditionally made it more suitable for heavy-duty usage and rough conditions—something fleet operators value highly. Why Hycross Needs A New Variant Despite its modern design and hybrid technology, the Hycross hasn’t completely replaced the Crysta in the fleet market. This is mainly due to: Higher upfront pricing Increased running and maintenance costs Lack of rugged body-on-frame construction To address this, Toyota is expected to introduce a more affordable hybrid variant with simplified features. Engine Options (Innova Hycross) The Innova Hycross is currently offered with: 2.0-litre petrol engine – 171 BHP 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol – 181 BHP Both options come paired with a CVT automatic transmission. What This Means For Buyers The discontinuation of the Innova Crysta will mark the end of an era for one of India’s most reliable MPVs. However, Toyota’s move towards hybrid technology indicates a shift towards efficiency, lower emissions, and future-ready mobility. For fleet buyers and loyalists, the upcoming affordable Hycross variant could serve as a practical alternative—provided Toyota manages to balance cost, durability, and efficiency.
